Southampton to London Pipeline Project
Project Overview: Esso's current aviation fuel pipeline is among several they manage across the UK. Though many remain unaware of these pipelines due to their subtle presence above ground, they play a pivotal role in the country's infrastructure. Established between 1969 and 1972, this pipeline extends from Esso's Fawley Refinery near Southampton to their storage facility in Hounslow, West London Terminal. Pipelines, apart from being a secure mode of transporting fuel, also contribute significantly to reducing traffic, keeping an estimated 100 road tankers off the streets daily.
In December 2017, Esso announced their plan to refurbish the infrastructure, with a focus on replacing 90km of the 105km underground aviation fuel pipeline. Throughout its preparatory phases, they have communicated diligently with local authorities, landowners, and various other organizations, ensuring they're apprised of the project's progress and anticipated construction commencement.
